Earrings for Debra

Bespoke jewellery is often commissioned and made for an individual, but it can also be for a couple. Here the skill of the bespoke jeweller is to understand the needs of both clients, and make something entirely gorgeous for them. Debras husband wanted to have some long, tassel-type earrings made for her birthday. She is a gregarious, fun-loving woman, who loves gold, and suits larger pieces of jewellery. In our conversation we discussed his thoughts, and I formed a picture of Debra, which became the basis of my brief. These lovely gold earrings shimmer with brilliant-cut, sparkly gemstones, featuring her favourite colours.

Amethyst is a member of the quartz family. It ranges in colour from a rich, deep purple to very pale lilac. Opaque, translucent or transparent, amethyst is a hugely popular gemstone widely used in contemporary jewellery. The name derives from the Greek word amethustos, meaning without wine and legend has it that amethyst helps prevent drunkenness; it is also associated with sincerity, security and spirituality.
Blue Topaz The use of topaz in jewellery dates back to ancient Egyptian times. These beautiful blue topaz gemstones have been cut to maximise the subtle beauty and clarity of their colour.
Peridot a beautiful, ancient gemstone that is the birthstone for the month of August with a memorable, vibrant green colour.
Rhodolite Garnet Lighter, brighter and more purple than common garnets, rhodolites are fine gemstones and quite rare.
Smoky Quartz is a close relation to amethyst and citrine; it ranges in colour from pale to dark brown. Smoky Quartz is reputed to be a protective and grounding gemstone which dissipates negativity and balances energies. It is seen as an aid to anxiety, stress and depression.
